Clients often already know what they should say, what boundary they should set, or what they want to do differently. Yet when the actual moment arrives, the same old emotional pattern takes over.
In this highly experiential workshop, you’ll discover how to move a coaching conversation from talking about change to experiencing something different in the room. You’ll learn how Role-Plays and Real-Plays can bring a difficult conversation, internal conflict, feared response, or underdeveloped leadership capacity emotionally alive—creating opportunities for new learning that insight and action planning alone may not reach.
Through demonstration, practice, and a simple coaching framework, you’ll learn how to recognize the right moment to move into an experiential exercise, keep the client in charge, identify their ICEL and Core Personality Trait beneath the struggle so they have a true Transformative Relational Experience. You’ll leave with language, a practical framework, and hands-on experience you can immediately bring into your coaching.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Differentiate traditional discussion or behavioral rehearsal from a Role/Real-Play that will create new relational-emotional learning.
- Recognize four common coaching doorways where an experiential intervention may be useful.
- Identify the ICEL and Core Personality Trait that may be operating beneath a client’s presenting challenge.
- Invite and facilitate a Role/Real-Play while maintaining client agency, present-tense emotional engagement, and appropriate coaching scope.
- Use Metaprocessing, Mindsight, and Actionables to deepen and integrate what the client experienced.
